In 2014, the scale of China's apparel online shopping transactions reached 434.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 42.8%, and the country’s entire online shopping market was 23.1%, making it one of the most important ways for domestic apparel consumption. According to the China Garment Association’s high-end forum on the China Garment Conference and Xinjiang apparel industry development recently held, the online shopping market in China continued to maintain a relatively high growth rate in 2014. It is estimated that the overall size of the apparel online shopping market in China will reach 615.3 billion yuan in 2014. It grew 41.5%, accounting for 22.1% of the nation's online shopping market.

Clothing e-commerce has made great progress, but also highlights a series of development bottlenecks. Chen Dapeng, executive vice president of the China Garment Association, said that e-commerce distribution is not balanced, it is not enough to run in with traditional marketing, there are hidden security risks in payment methods, and the development of logistics and distribution systems is lagging behind. Other issues still restrict the development of apparel e-commerce.

“Apparel and apparel products are the top category in online shopping, so there is still huge room for development and potential. It can be said that clothing e-commerce leads the development of the entire e-commerce market is inevitable.”

He believes that the development of the apparel e-commerce market in 2014 has the following trends: First, the scale of clothing e-commerce will steadily expand, accounting for an absolute share of the online shopping market; second, clothing mobile e-commerce will develop rapidly; third, apparel e-commerce will strengthen its own integrity construction. Fourth, the "shop" and "electricity" complement each other, the development of online and offline integration; five is more emphasis on personalized customization.
