According to a recent report by France’s "Textile," sales of home textiles in France experienced a sharp decline in 2009, with the downward trend continuing into the start of this year. However, a positive shift was observed from July onwards, and by August, the market showed a noticeable improvement. The average annual growth in sales value for home textiles reached 5% last year, indicating a recovery in consumer demand.
The rebound in sales can be largely attributed to price cuts initiated at the beginning of August, which encouraged retailers to further reduce prices during clearance periods, ultimately benefiting consumers. Among the best-selling categories were bedding and towels, which remained popular throughout the season. Additionally, household decorative textiles saw strong demand, particularly in the areas of yarn curtains and window treatments. These products not only met practical needs but also appealed to consumers looking to refresh their living spaces, contributing to the overall positive trend in the market.
